"Speightstown is steeped in history, and the recently renovated Arlington House, is expected to be a gem added to the treasure chest. Co-ordinator, Paul Altman says Arlington House, opened Thursday morning is the result of a long involvement with the Barbados National Trust.
He says a public/private sector company was formed to work with the former owners the Barbados National Bank, and at least two studies were carried out before the project could begin.
Mr. Altman says there was also collaboration through the Barbados Tourism Investment Incorporate and a big part of the funding came from the Rousing family, visitors to the island. He says initially it was to be used as a model for others who wanted to do similar restorations.
Director of Arlington House, Ron Davis says the exhibits there embody different aspects of the island's culture and is ideal not only for visitors to Barbados but especially school children.
The exhibition at Arlington also carries prints of old Barbados and other exotic items."
