While most of the attention in the Sandy Lane area has been focused on The Sands to the south because of its in-your-face presentation, quietly getting off the ground to the north is the condo complex replacing the beachfront villa - Beachlands. The 50-unit block when completed in 2011 will consist of luxury apartments and penthouses ranging in size from 25 hundred square feet to 9 thousand square feet, and in price from three to twelve million US dollars. The new owners must be commended for saving most of the mahogany and other woods on the property, something that probably should have been done at the Four Seasons development in Black Rock. They also have plans to restore and stabilize the badly eroded beach.
